I’m at Indy InstallFest 2007 right now - I’ve eaten some good food, had a few laughs with friends, installed VS2008 (thanks Microsoft for the free copy), and did my demo in front of the world. I demo’d creating a syndication service using a REST-based WCF service. I planned for about a 20 minute demo (to include object initializers and extension methods) but only had 10 minutes, so it didn’t exactly go as planned.
I ended up getting 3rd place (out of 6). My colleague Jeff Moser won the demo contest - he did a great job! He was awarded a Zune for his efforts. Way to go. I’d look at “Code Camp” to be like slightly more formal versions of these coding demos - but with a little more time per demo so we’re not as rushed.
If you do anything with web services you should check out REST and the WCF web programming model. Check out my article on developer.com (using the Beta 2 bits) on just that!
Good times…
Oh, and here’s a fuzzy image of me playing Dan Rigsby in Guitar Hero.
Update: Jeremy Mann posted a detailed visual overview of the event - it really gives you a feel for what it was like. Thanks Jeremy!
