Nokia E50

A few years ago, I was very excited for the release of the Motorola MPx220. I thought it was going to be the coolest thing since sliced bread, and on one level, it was. But it came bundled with so many issues, I think I’ve been tainted towards “smartphones”–phones that do it all. Seems like the more features they add to a phone, the worse it behaves as a phone. I went through about 5 MPx220s before I got one that didn’t have issues. And ever since then, I’ve been afraid to really customize it because of how many hard resets I have had to do. I just gave up!

I think, though, that I’m a hopeless romantic. Because when I saw some of the info on the new Nokia E50, I started getting excited again!! Fortunately for me, I don’t care about good lookin’ phones–I’m a functional kind of guy myself. (Which is why I was so disappointed with my Motorola’s functional failures and it’s why the E50 might be the phone for me if it doesn’t disappoint too!)

Features that stood out to me:

  • Small size
  • ActiveSync support
  • Quad Band (for that one day 20 years from now when I finally do some travelling!)
  • Optional camera (finally!)
  • 6 hours of talk time

Okay I just realized that’s prettymuch all the features that Gizmodo posted. They all stood out!
